Pelplin is a small town in the north of Poland situated 60 km from Gdańsk and the Baltic sea. The town has only 8000 inhabitants, but its’ history is rich as it houses one of the most prominent Gothic Cathedrals in Europe. . In the Diocesan Museum visitors can see the only original Gutenberg Bible in Poland. The Publishing House “Bernardinum” offers offset and digital printing and specializes in exceptional facsimile editions of rare books.
Pelplin high school, Zespół Szkół Ponadgimnazjalnych educates 300 students in general and vocational disciplines. Practical educational training takes place in enterprises with tutors who are also craftsmen. The pride of our school is a Poetry Festival named after Father Janus Stanislas Pasierb, poet and art historian, and the patron of our establishment.
Through student exchanges between the Golf Hotel High School in Hyeres, France and Zespół Szkół Ponadgimnazjalnych in Pelplin, Poland, we will try to show how new technologies affect modern education by collaborating together on a project. The final product of our exchange will be an e-book, which will show the development of reading and writing in Europe from the times of the Gutenberg Bible up to modern-day digital printing methods. All students taking part in the project will use the educational platform eTwinning.
